Bambu Studio's default 0.20mm profile is tuned for speed, not for a part that needs to look good and hold up. Here's the settings that actually move the needle on both, and why each one matters — pulled from real profile tuning across every relevant tab in Bambu Studio.
Drop layer height to 0.16mm. It's the sweet spot: a visibly cleaner surface than the 0.20mm default without the print-time cost of going to 0.12mm. Pair it with 4 wall loops instead of the default 2 — wall count is the single biggest lever for structural strength, more so than infill percentage in most parts.
Switch Wall generator from Classic to Arachne in the Others tab. Classic uses fixed-width walls and struggles on parts with varying wall thickness — anything with bosses, ribs, or thin features next to thick ones. Arachne dynamically adjusts wall width to actually fill those transitions instead of leaving gaps.

Cubic infill resists load from multiple directions better than Grid, which is why it's the better default once strength actually matters.
Bring outer wall speed down to ~150mm/s and top surface speed to ~100–120mm/s — Bambu's stock 200mm/s defaults trade visible surface quality for print time. If there's a flat top face that matters (a label, a logo, a mating surface), turn on Ironing → Top surfaces in the Others tab. It re-traces the top layer at low flow to melt down the ridges between print lines.
PLA Basic's default A1 bed temperature is 65°C — that's hotter than most PLA actually needs and can contribute to warping on smaller parts. See the bed temperature guide for what to set instead. For adhesion, set Brim type to "Outer brim only" rather than trusting Auto on any part with an irregular footprint.
